Dr. Denise Prue has been administering her healing touch for almost 20 years.  Denise graduated from UCLA in 1995 with a degree in kinesiology, after spending several years as a massage therapist and working in chiropractic offices. After earning her D.C. degree, Denise moved to Sonoma County and started her own practice in 1996. She began with a family practice, but soon realized her passion for working with athletes.

Dr. Prue takes a holistic approach in order to meet the special needs of her patients. For cyclists, this means a multi-layered treatment, focusing on both core strength and soft-tissue recovery. Her sessions are never less than 30 minutes, and she is known for helping her patients minimize the need for re-alignment by empowering them to utilize core-strengthening and home-based stretching.

Through her sponsorship of NorCal Velo Women’s Cycling Team, Dr. Prue’s practice has grown in both quantity and quality, due to word-of-mouth referrals. She’s now had the opportunity to work with youth cyclists, coaches, and many of the women on our team.

The Triumph Life Center also offers massage, yoga classes, and now pilates too! After a recent Sunday Team Ride, we re-grouped at Dr. Prue’s office for some stretching and pilates. True to form, Denise began her post-ride routine of feeding the team! This time we were treated to watermelon and cantaloupe.

We then enjoyed a relaxing pilates session, which incorporated lots of thera-band stretches and self-massage with foam rollers:

Here’s what her patients have to say about Dr. Denise Prue:

"My office visits with Denise are always such a pleasure. I have never had a chiropractor integrate so many different modalities into a single treatment. Denise uses massage, muscle testing, manipulation, kind words, jelly beans, and water falls to put me back in alignment. It's amazing how much more comfortable I am in my own skin, and literally how much easier it is for me to breathe after she puts everything back where it's supposed to be. After an adjustment I can't stop taking huge deep breaths because my ribs and vertebrae are all in place!"

“I had just crashed and hit my head a week before the Copperopolis Road Race and my head and neck were still killing me. We went out as a team to pre-ride the race course which was a very bumpy ride, the Paris Roubaix of California. We hadn't even gotten to the major climb and I was in a lot of pain. I was pretty much thinking that there was no way in hell that I was racing the next day. Denise had offered many times to help me but I can be stubborn at times and I just thought that I could heal it on my own. She got off her bike and started making a little place to lay by the side of the road, all the while saying ‘I've been waiting to get my hands on you.’ She cracked my neck in both directions, temporarily easing the pain. I was amazed at the instant improvement. Later that night she went to work on me again, massaging the inner muscles of my neck. My C2 and C3 vertebrae were locked up and all of the muscles around had tightened in protest. The morning of the race I felt almost back to normal again and started with the team. Denise is awesome! She is an incredibly proficient and intuitive practitioner who respects and honors the opportunity to work with another's body. Her compassion and confidence allow you to relax and trust her influence in the healing process. I am grateful to her for sharing herself and her skills with us.”

"I have been to many chiropractors over the years for many different injuries, and Dr. Denise is by far the most compassionate, efficient, and comprehensive doctor I've ever been to."

“Dr. Denise is awesome! Her hours are extremely flexible; when I'm in a pickle she can always manage to squeeze me in.  Denise is a very thorough chiropractor. Not only does she manipulate the spine, she also does a bit of massage prior to the adjustment, which really helps my muscles relax and stop pulling on my spine. When I leave her office I can breathe, ride, climb, and sleep better! She's awesome.”

NorCal Velo Women’s Cycling Team thanks Dr. Denise Prue for her loving commitment to the team. J
