Bobator TTT #3 August 23, 2005 Petaluma, CA

NorCalVelo gathered a strong group, including Mary Anne (time trialist extraordinaire), Shannon (Davis Time Trial Queen #1), Claire (our illustrious leader and Davis Time Trial Queen #2), Mary B. (Miss "I think I can single-handedly pull us back up to the Dewars train"), Clare #2 (our awesome new recruit), and myself.

I should begin to describe the fun we had one week earlier, when the lot of us rode out to Oakmont with the colorful Bobator guys to practice team time trialing in Oakmont. Riding there with the Bobas was a hoot, as we must have had 25 riders going through town. We practiced taking smooth pulls, signaling "done," cornering, and the what-not-to-do about chasing down passing boys. Afterwards, we raided Shannons Salvation Army bags to don some non-lycra clothing, and again were endlessly entertained by the Bobas over burritos.

Thus, we were of course now completely trained in team time trialing, and excited to begin the race. We stuck together the first half of the lap, then Clare #2 dropped off (I think she and Krista, who arrived late due to a contractor or something like that, both did the rest of the ride with various groups of Bobas). Clare did a great job! I dont recall doing anything like a TTT as a new cyclist! Way to go, Clare! Mary Anne, Shannon, Claire H., Mary B., and myself pushed it to finish well, although the Village Peddler girls were just a bit faster still! We finished with some genuine endorphins, and celebrated with our second place prize of genuine pork rinds, thanks to emcee Pete Sweeney.

We left wishing there were more TTTs left in the series, but theres always next year...
