Early on Penny took a prime! After that, not much was happening, so Penny and I hatched a plan � we�d attack with 7 laps to go. 7 laps is a long way, so it was revised to 5 laps. I went. Penny blocked. 5 laps is a long way to go, but the juniors drag racing me on the back stretch kept me going. 1st win of the season - thanks Penny!

Pennys Report

I was all psyched up to do 2 races at Livermore , the Cat 4 and Mastes race. So when I found out the masters race was for men (guess I didnt read the fine print), I decided to go for it anyway.

The first race was women and Elizabeth and I were in it together. We both went out to try for a prime and just missed getting one. We kept hearing about one girl in the pack being good at time trialing, so when she made a little attack I went after her. Elizabeth said to save my strength because we were going to go for it soon. So I sat in and waited for the signal. With 3 laps to go, Elizabeth made her move and I went after her. We were going to try to work together until the finish. Good idea, but I found out her wheel was getting further and further away, so I decided (or maybe it was decided for me) to drop back and block. Anyway, no one went after her and we did not see Elizabeth again until the finish. She was flying. Way to go, girl. A very impressive win.

So then it was a few hours wait for the next race to start. Lining up with all men is a little intimidating, but I thought it would be kind of fun too. It was, for about 5 minutes, which is how long it took for me to get dropped. I think Im a real fan of racing with women now. There has to be at least one besides me!
