Pescadero Classic

Finally a road race! This is my favorite course thus far - it�s local, hilly, in and out of the coastal redwoods, AND has rural art along the course � a 20ft welded skeleton sporting a machine gun guards the first climb. I couldn�t decide if this bettered the 30ft Angel made out of PVC pipe that shows up every December out in Dry Creek. Rural art aside, I was on a mission to upgrade. After scoping out the course throughout the week, and getting a remedial descending lesson (thanks Brendan!), I was ready to go. We started with a big group (50!). After the first climb/descent: ~25 left. Next climb/descent: ~12 left. Next descent: 7 left and � of �em were Velo Bellas - nice teamwork! Going into the last climb, I�m thinking, �this race CAN�T come down to a sprint!� 1k to go: 6 left. 500m: 4 left. 200m: no one�s going�Uff Da, we�re sprinting! Ended up 2nd by inches � good enough for the upgrade!
