Santa Cruz County Cyclocross Championships

Cyclocross racing is really, really hard. After being under the weather for nearly three months (no I am not exaggerating- I got sick right after Gloucester and never really recovered) I am finally feeling good and what better way to celebrate than to attempt to defend my title as Santa Cruz County Cyclocross Champion? The Santa Cruz County Cycling Club put on a great event on Sunday- fun course, good people, good times. No new title for me, though- it went to Stella who well deserved it. I�ve gotta say, racing �cross after spending most of my weekends in bed for the last few months didn�t exactly feel good but being on my bike, sliding around in the mud (and other mud-like things- hmmmm county fairgrounds?) was just what the doctor ordered. The real glory of the day though, came when my studly team won the relay race. Brian, Cameron, Mark and I (Team Tummy Butter) battled the others and came through on top. Pretty fun. Not much else to report from here- I wish I could say I have been doing long, epic rides like the rest of you but I think it will be a while before I build back my strength- right now I�m just happy to be back on the bike- I guess a little humility isn�t such a bad thing.
