Ritas Report

Drat! Its hard enough scooting out of work in time to make it up to Santa Rosa from Berkeley... I almost never get a decent warm-up. But today traffic was especially bad and unfortunately I missed the second race. So I got talked into doing the last race. Not surprisingly, I was near the back early on. Luckily, I found a small group to work with and we went at a pace that I could manage reasonably well. We fell off the main pack but continued on. A few dropped out of our little group, and after a while there were four of us left. Boy, was I nervous at the beginning (I think thats why I begged Claire to jump into the race with me even though shed just finished racing only minutes before). But I heard lots of cheering and that definitely helped to keep me going.

NorCal girls were scarce tonight! Brenda has her sights set on next weekend, and Rita got stuck in traffic. Donamarie is out of town...so it was lonesome little old me. But thanks Katrina, Sarah, and Mary Anne for your sideline antics! My legs felt like rubber bands tonight, after a rousing students vs. staff basketball game and a massage from Brenda. Rita finally made it, but just in time for the 3rd race! Ouch! I tried to race with her, for moral support, but was useless and lasted about 1 lap. Sorry!
