Fremont Criterium

So this was my first race after taking some time off this season. My only goal was to finish the race today. There was a fair turnout of around 25 or so women. The course is your basic 4 corner crit with a lot of wind. Palo Alto and Los Gatos were well represented at the race with 4 to 5 riders each and I was by myself so I was content with letting them duke it out for a while�.and it took a long while for things to get going. As attacks went off I let the teams work to pull them back in until one went up the road with a rider from each of the teams. This looked a little dangerous to me so I jumped to try and make it across. I eventually got there, with the rest of the pack, and surprisingly recovered quickly from my big effort. When it came to the final sprint, my legs felt great but I got a little boxed in. Despite my poor positioning I pulled off a 2cnd place in the W3 and what looked like 5th overall (this was a 1,2,3�s race). Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised with the power coming out of my legs on this first day back racing!
