Janes Corral Hollow Race Report

Happy to report - luck was on my side this weekend.

It was hot and windy and windy and windy. The race started out nice and slow. The first lap there was no real attacks and so I relaxed and thought about what I needed to do to get away on the second lap.

Since it was super windy I knew I shouldnt go alone so I decided to set the pace high and just attack repeatedly on the climb and try to windle the group down. It worked and by the top of the climb we had a group of six or so, but to my frustration people were going slow on the descent and not working together. When a women caught back on and I could see two more getting closer to us I knew I had to attack now so I rounded the right hand corner, second in line, and took off as fast as I could on a gradual climb. After getting a good gap I slowed to let a few women catch me because I didnt want to go solo into the wind. We all started to work together and got a good break going.

On the next climb, Lisa? a Left Coast girl and I started pushing the pace each pulling one after the other. We got away and kept taking turns into the wind all the way. She was really strong and so great to work with -we didnt take any chances working hard and never letting up until the very end . I figured we were probably evenly matched in terms of sprinting so when we rounded the final turn I just went for it, she tried to pass but I managed to hold her off for first place. Phew what a day!
