Go, Sarah, Go!!!!

I raced my first Bay Area Prestige race of the year near Monster Park in San Francisco. It was really rocky and dusty out there. I got a flat in my warm-up and Chris flatted midway through his race. After our last remaining tube leaked we borrowed a rear wheel from Dan Harding from Rocklobster.

The bummer was this shorted my warm-up to 15 minutes and they no longer allow folks on the course to warm-up during races as there was a shit ton of people there racing. 25 girls finished our race but it seemed like there were a lot of people running with flatted tires so I am not sure if they listed everyone even the DNF riders in our results. The course was very windy as it looped through a big field with a couple sketchy downhills, one of which was followed by a steep run up. I found it better to run down one of them to get momentum to keep running up.

We started 30 seconds off of the As so we ended up riding around a lot of girls and I really did not know how I stood. I passed a few and got out hard but I got passed by 3 girls in my race and was discouraged after that thinking I was in like 10th or 15th or something. I also broke a pedal and clipping in was only possible on 2 sides so that was a pain. I still tried to ride hard and I saw the girls who passed me right in front. I was suprised when I placed 4th and then even more pissed I was only 1:14 off 1st.

Oh well improvements will hopefully happen week by week. Next week we are off to Sacramento for the 2nd CA Cup race after Fairfax.
