12 Hours of Humboldt

Wow, the race course was 2 blocks from my house in beautiful Arcata Redwood Forest. For 11+ hours I rode my heart out and it was a slurried mixture of bliss, adrenaline, suffering and euphoria. At lap 7 I started to bonk. I came upon the gu station located on the back side of the course. In my desperation, I sucked down a number of half eaten and discarded gus. This fueled me back to the pit stop to grab a coke and a quater of sandwich which miraculously brought me back to life. Powered by a obsessive focus within I cranked out the rest of the race. It was beautiful, simple and raw. FOR THE FIRST TIME I REALLY FELT LIKE I EARNED MY FIRST PLACE. MUCH THANKS TO GEORGE HOPE who infront of 50+ people recieved my barking orders for food and drink each lap.
