CREAM PUFF RACE REPORT 2005

wow, okay lets see. So I rode 100 miles on my mountain bike. Okay and I climed 18,000 feet. Okay was that really me, my legs pedaling away? Maybe it was an imposter me who finished the race while the real me sucked GUs in the creek?

....however George assures me that no, I didnt hide under the covers on race day (although at 4:30 a.m. I did put my sunscreen on under the covers) ......and yes, I did finish the race with a huge ring of pink watermelon juice around my mouth.

Oddities and fascinations of the day include:

2 times passed and then passed by a vomiting single-speeder. On the second lap of the infamous 1810 fire road climb I dropped 3 dudes for good. For awhile I rode with a professional jet skier No technicals & No crashes I grossed out the aid station attendees by smashing huge amounts of food into my muddied face and then spit out the salmon bones.....they scrunched their faces, cried eeewww and laughed.

Special mention and moment of pride: in the 3 days leading up to the race on my force feed diet I Pauline Greenfield, amazingly out of nowhere with great and victorious gastronomical strength ate more than the famous and expected favorite consumer George Hope.

Also worth noting: Every woman that started the race finished (women rock) and you cant say that about all the men riders. I mention this beacuse I am so stoked and proud to be on a womens cycling team. Thank you all for the pre-season training support.

Other details (A GUESSTIMATION): I finished 10 out of 13 or 14 women? And ~ 84th out of 112 overall.
