Super Prestige CX #2
http://www.pilarcitos.com/2008Cross.htmBay Area Super Prestige Cyclocross
Sunday we travelled to BASP #2. I was not very motivated today and had a less than fair performance. I was a bit tired, did not get a great warm up due to simone, yadi yada .... anyway the normally sandy course was nice and tacky courtesy of the rain. I got out in a great position but was passed when the group braked and I had to clip out then all of a sudden was a bit sloppy. Once I was in the groove I was too far back and came in 12th out of 19 women, not the performance I was looking for but hey you can't feel great every day and racing my way into shape in this early part of the season is the goal. It is really great to be with such kick ass competition. Next week is Norcal cup 3 and 4 in Reno and Sacramento.

After having raced the day before in the pouring rain and mud bogs of Santa Rosa, my bike and my body were both a little worked from the get go. But, nonetheless, it was beautiful and sunny day at Candlestick Park, and I was excited to see what I could pull off in the women's B category. Alexis Marbach and I warmed up, did a few dismounts/re-mounts to be sure we remembered how to do them properly, and spun around the course once just before our start. Alexis rolled up to the start line with blood on her knee (two men crashed her out during HER warm-up lap), and we decided that it was on!! I got a "call up" and was excited to see if I could defend my 8th place in the series. We started the race and I felt really good from the get go. The course was super fun! Lots of tight turns, little power climbs, and not too many barriers. Not to mention, the sandy mud was tacky and was FAST! I worked hard to keep in sight of women in my category, and was amazed that my legs felt so good. Towards the end of the 40 minutes, my skills and coordination started to slowly deteriorate (I think I'm seeing a pattern here with this cross racing thing), but I finished as strong as I could and had a clean race. I ended up 11th and was happy with that. Alexis and Sarah Piccolo had good races as well, and I can't wait till the next race in the Super Prestige series to see what might happen!
