Today we (Carol, Penny, Lesley and my husband Barry) rode for Carol's brother Art.  Art who is only in his forties, is a talented runner working very hard in Marin at recovering from a recent stroke.  We wore our read ribbons for him on our chests with pride.  It was a beautiful sunny day...which was appreciated even more considering the earlier in the week showers were predicted.  The team time trial seemed more popular this year possibly due to the appearance of Levi Lipheimer who raced solo, and of course rocketed through the course.  Carol's competitive juices were flowing especially when she saw some familiar faces on the course; she and Penny turned it on and hammered out a strong finish.  They had such a good time I'm quite sure there will be more time trials put on the calendar for this year!

Barry and I raced coed for the second time and again enjoyed the gut busting effort.  We flew through the first half of the course averaging 24.8-Barry pulled so hard I was at my lactate threshold the whole time!  He anticipated that he'd be able to rest on the three bears...he was right.  Being this early in the season I knew the hills would hurt so we decided to get to them as fast as we could and then suffer our way up.  Thank goodness at that point we were almost done.  We crested the last hill and finished 1.5 minutes ahead of last years time.  Yahoo!!!
