Cherry Pie Criterium

I had a blast at Cherry Pie! It was a well organized race and I loved the course! I got dropped off of the main group. I put myself in the wrong place at the wrong time and away they went. As strange as it may seem, I had fun working with Lindsay trying to catch up. How often do you get a closed course to play on, a teammate and a crowd encouraging you to bridge the gap? We stuck it out until we got lapped at 30 minutes and then cheered on the rest of our team of 5 women out there playing the game. Tracy, Ashley, Claire, Cathy and Rita were awesome! I was really excited just to be there racing with some of these women who I've ridden with for 10 years. I can't wait to get enough experience and fitness to be up there with you. The more we do it the better it will feel!

Cherry Pie 2008

So Cherry Pie was our opening team crit and whoa was it an opener. It is a fast course with wide turns and a nice power climb. This being said, it was super important to be in a good spot in the field and hold on for the first five laps. The pace was fast from the start, and unfortunately it was strategy error on my part which led me to popping off the back in a few laps... doh! I was encouraged to get as most out of the race as I could with my awesome teammate Jen! We boogied around and around until the field came past us. Lesson learned for the first crit of the year: Be aggressive in holding onto position, and never second guess an opportunity to move forward in a race. -Lindsay
What a beautiful day for a bike race. It was a warm and sunny day… I roll up to the start line for the Women’s 1/2/3 race, it’s a very respectable field of 55 women, and what do my eyes behold but six other teammates flying NorCal Velo colors. Six! That’s more teammates than I’ve ever raced with, ever, on any team I’ve been a part of. Wow, what a sight. Bravo, ladies! Looking forward to racing with you this season. -Rita
What a fun start to the season! It was great to dust off the cobwebs and get back into the race routine. The weather was fantastic, there was a huge women's field, and NorCal Velo circa 2008 had 7 women in the Cat 1/2/3 race! WOOT! I want to thank my teammates for showing up today, despite having been pretty much sidelined due to illnesses, accidents involving dogs, and mountain bike crashes. You guys are tuff as nailz. -Claire
Thank you Veronika Lenzi for taking pics of the team.
