CXSR #4

This race was not my best, in fact it may have been my worst! Seatpost slippage during the race made me feel like I was riding a BMX bike. This was totally my fault. I had greased the seatpost that morning to protect the bottom bracket from moisture,a really stupid mistake. Serious loss of power and nothing I could do about it. The course was super bumpy and there was one sandy little hill that made it interesting, but I was so focused on my seat height that I couldn't fully appreciate the course.Next time will be better!!

Oh man this cold this week kicked my bootie but with loot on the line I decided to race today. Thankfully I did as there were only 3 women who showed up. It was a good effort, albeit slow. I got a lot of that icky snotty stuff out though and had fun with Allison. The course was a tad sketchy on the pavement and I saw some wipe outs there. My best bud from grade school did her first race and that was way cool. Had to take off early to a shower so I missed all the festivities. Hopefully we can spread the word and get more ladies out next month. Allison got me on the back paved section as my bike would not shift in front- arrggg- and she was stronger than me there. I was psyched to get a strong effort for the BASP final tomorrow at coyote point.

CXSR #3 fell on one of the COLDEST mornings we've had yet here in Sonoma County this fall! Wow. Not only was it freezing and foggy for our race, but the course was tough as well. Not technical tough, but super bumpy and flat. I raced with Penny in the B category and felt pretty good all things considered. I watched as the leader in our category biked out of sight, and then decided to try and defend 2nd place. The girl in 3rd passed me about half way through our 45 minute race, and the battle was on! I kept her close and managed to pass her by on the end of the 2nd to last lap. She had a technical and pulled from the race, so I hung on to 2nd. Penny's seat post was sliding down the whole time, and I guess Sarah P's bike wasn't shifting...doh! Random stuff happens sometimes...but it was a fun race regardless and it was awesome to have such a sweet Norcal Velo presence out there!
