Howarth Park Dirt Crit

Lots of women showed up tonight, 10 I think, including teammates Sarah P., Heather, Cindy, and Jen Scott for her 2008 dirt crit debut!  Cathy was also there to cheer us on.
 
I had a great race, good fun.  I was confused at the end and didn’t know if I had another lap to do or not, so my last lap was mello.
 
A highlight was being seriously schooled by Sarah Campbell, she passed me riding super strong on lap three, and that was the last I saw of her!  Awesome. 
 
Sarah P. won on her singlespeed… I hear she has SS Worlds on her 2009 calendar…. Watch out!

Today was great as the women's field equaled the men's bs. we all started the same time and there was jenn scott, cindy c, myself, heather, shannon all representing norcal, and then 4-5 other gals. We lined up behind the men, quickly passing several as them and eating their dust while we got our places in the race. It is fun racing with them, I think we make them work harder!  Anyway it was fun, sarah campbell and carrie finished right behind me with shannon and the rest of the gals in hot pursuit. I am definitely enjoying the single speed on this course.

I had been saying that I would get my butt over to the park to race one of these things and I am so happy that I did! It was great to see such a large turn out of women! Heather, Shannon, Sarah P, and Cindy sporting the orange & blue. I forgot how much these things hurt but they're SO much fun! I haven't been on my mtb for a while so it was extra fun getting back into the mountain harpy zone, sweating and suffering with the rest of the forest creatures!
