EBC Criterium

The best part of this weekend was all the car-pooling and slumber-party silliness. I really enjoyed fitting 3 girls and 3 bikes in one car for a big race weekend. Plus, we had 5-star accomodations at Rita's house! 

It was just a hop, skip, jump over to Pleasanton from Rita's. It was fun warming up on rollers and chit-chatting with Mary Ellen Ash; what a sweetheart she is.  The racing was fast and safe, thanks to Brooke Miller's suggestion "c'mon ladies, lets all get in a kick-ass workout!" (After she had already raced with the men).

I did my best to ride near the front for the whole race, chasing stuff down, and just havin' fun. Rita rode a most excellent race; I used the smooth Rita-train more than once to get back up to the front. WIth 2 laps to go I was at the very back, but with one lap to go I somehow maneuvered my way back up and when it started to string out, I had a super position. Brooke won, of course, and I was happy to place 6th behind riders like "Melon" and Tait Sato. It was a really fun race and I won a nice schwag bag with wine and gels and such.

Jen and Lindsay had cooked up some grub while Rita and I raced this crit.  What a treat to come home to Rita's and sit right down to a good meal. Then we watched "Superstar" and ate ice cream, just like junior high (and I would know).
