Surf City

In addition to all the Halloween decor and the crazy costume race,  Velo Bella put together a great course for the 2nd Norcal Cup. Today Simone my almost 3 year old jumped in  the kiddo race and it was the best watching her in her tutu and cowboy boots, running on her balance bike with all the kids racing, too bad I forgot to bring my camera for that.  My race again had me out on a lousy start. There were 25 of us with some seriously tough women and I probably started in 14th or so. Once we hit the first hill I ran past  a big group and settled in 7th behind Stella Carey, Sarah Kerlin, Sarah Maile, Sarah Bamberger, Kathleen Hannon, and  Mary Anne Hunter. The course had a little bit of everything, except barriers, they left those out today. I passed Mary Anne after she had a crash after the first lap, then was passed by Karen Brems.  I then got passed By Barb Howe but stayed on her wheel through the loops on the grass. The energy was high as I road behind her until 2 laps to go. Then I went for it and passed her. We were lapping gals so it got slow maneuvering around them. I held on to 7th and felt really good about my race. I do need to work on my starts though as getting out I am learning is so important. Next week is CXSR and BASP 2.
